He has published more than 200 scientific articles and is the author of the books Microstructural Principles of Food Processing, Food Materials Science and Edible Structures. Among many distinctions are: a Guggenheim fellowship, the A. von Humboldt Research Prize and the Marcel Loncin Research Prize. In 2010 he was elected to the U.S. National Academy of Engineering.
