ICEF 12 – Young Food Engineer Award

Purpose: To recognize outstanding achievements /contributions made by young engineers in Food Engineering. The award is aimed at those who are at a relatively early stage of their careers.

Eligibility Criteria: The individual must have made outstanding achievements/contributions in the field of Food Engineering. He/She has demonstrated high quality scientific and/or industrial productivity, evidence of leadership, and acting as an inspirational role model. He/She must not be older than 40 years as on the 14th of June 2015. He/She must also be registered for ICEF12 and must give an oral presentation.

The Award: The Award is sponsored by the Journal of Food Engineering and shall consist of a prize of a value of $5000 USD.

Nomination procedure:  Nominations for the Young Food Engineer Award could be done by engineers working in academia, government, R&D laboratories and industry.

The nominations are to be sent in the prescribed format given in the nomination form, to Dr. Martin Mondor (martin.mondor@agr.gc.ca), Chair of the Young Food Engineer Award committee, by Monday February 16th, 2015.

Responsibilities of Nominator:

  • Contact the Nominee well before the nomination deadline to inform him/her that a nomination document is being prepared.
  • Fill in the nomination form with the Nominee and assemble the required supporting documents.
  • Submit all the documents to the Chair of the Young Food Engineer Award committee, by Monday February 16th, 2015.

Responsibilities of the Nominee:

  • Approve the request to be nominated for the ICEF 12 – Young Food Engineer Award.

Selection of Award Recipient:  An Award Committee is set up. This committee is formed of Dr. Martin Mondor, Chair of the Young Food Engineer Award committee, Dr. Sébastien Villeneuve, Member of the Executive committee of ICEF 12, and of two current IAEF members. Members of the Young Food Engineer Award Committee review the nomination documents prior to the selection meeting. The Young Food Engineer Award recipient must receive majority support from all members of the Committee.
