Petros S. TaoukisPetros S. Taoukis is a Diploma Chemical Engineer, NTUA - MSc, PhD University of Minnesota US. Currently full Professor at the National Technical University of Athens, School of Chemical Engineering, Laboratory of Food Chemistry and Technology.  He has worked as Director of Research and Development at KnorrBestFoods Hellas (Member of UnileverBest Foods International) 2/1992 – 2/1995.

He teaches food chemistry, microbiology, engineering.

Research in the areas of kinetic modelling of food deterioration during and post processing, quality and shelf life predictive modelling, food packaging, predictive microbiology, enzyme technology. His research includes processes such as HHP processing, PEF, osmotic processing and intelligent packaging e.g. TTI smart labels aiming to develop optimal systems of food cold chain management.

Active participation in European research and training projects and management of National/EU supported multipartner projects.  He coordinated the RTD project SMAS of Framework 5 –Quality of life (QLK1-CT2002-02545) (2003-2006) and the project FAIR-CT95-1090. Scientific leader of the NTUA team in FP7, FP6, FP5 and FAIR European Projects e.g. FP7 SOPHY (www.sophy-project.eu) and FRISBEE(www.frisbee-project.eu).

Extensive collaboration with the food industry on applied research and development.

Work published in over 300 research papers, conference proceedings and book chapters. Over 1500 citations. Organization of ICEF11 conference (www.icef11.org).
